In The Darkness of a Massage Room, She Said....

"I've had fifteen abortions." She said it matter-of-factly, without a smidgen of embarrassment or guilt. She could have just as easily been saying, "I washed my car fifteen times."

I don't know if she noticed my hands stopped massaging her back and, in fact, they almost left her body completely. I felt like I had been hit with a blast of sound and heat. I never would have expected the story I heard that day from a woman who looked like she came from one of Manhattan Beach's mansions. She was a tall, blond, blue-eyed beauty queen. But her story was more like a crack whore from a "Law and Order" episode.

Her childhood wasn't easy. Her father ran off early but not after leaving a few scars, both emotional and physical. He liked touching his beautiful baby when he was drunk. He sometimes liked throwing her around. He left the house when she was eight years old. She managed to get through high school and soon there after, she caught the eye of a successful doctor. He gave her everything money could buy, she was that beautiful. But, she met a woman, a fun friend, who took her to a bar one day for her first drink and a little fun. Over a very short period of time she was drinking regularly, partying often and sleeping around. Drugs appeared on the scene and she became an addict. Her husband tried to help her with some of the fanciest recovery programs but she was damaged and couldn't keep it together. By the time she was 36, she was divorced, had one child, 15 abortions, and a liver disease that eventually took her life before her 40th birthday.

I've heard some dramatic stories in the 30 years of practice. The details, of which, I try not to think about. One such case was a man, a divorced father of a teen aged girl. He was so stressed out he could hardly lay still. He found out his 15 year old girl was pregnant but she had waited until she was six months along before she told him. He forced her to have an abortion. He forced her. Well, he said he 'convinced' her. He told her that having a baby at her age would ruin her life. He was a yeller. Where did he find a doctor who would perform an abortion at six months? It wasn't an abortion to save the life of the mother. It wasn't because the fetus was unable to survive to full term, but, simply because the grandfather insisted. Whether it was legal or not, this father would have found a way, found a doctor, found a coat hanger if he had to do it himself.

I felt sick to my stomach listening to him, feeling his body. I tried very hard not to be judgmental. I tried very hard to be a higher-self healer. I'm not so sure I succeeded. I never saw him again after that confession.

I used to volunteer in a shelter for victims of domestic violence. I was also a Big Sister for an inner city girl. I studied child psychology and for one of my term papers I wrote about McLaren Hall, an institution that was more of a warehouse for unwanted, throw away children. They were treated worse than animals. Thousands of them. Tens of thousands of them over the years.

Between the teenage runaways, throw aways, and foster kids and orphans, we're talking about a million kids without homes or permanent parents.

It's like being between a hard place and a rock. Our system can't take care of the children being born yet our conservative inclination is to prevent any alternatives.

My friend wants to pass a law requiring all 13 year old girls to get an IUD and all 13 year old boys to get a reversible vasectomy. In order to have the IUD removed or the surgery reversed they would have to take a two year course on parenting and financial planning. She and I read, "Walden Two", by B.F. Skinner, in college. We thought it made perfect sense in this senseless situation.

Abortions, as awful as they are, need to remain legal, safe, and accessible. The alternative is unimaginable.

Do You Unknowingly Spread Lies?

I received an email today that has been forwarded and forwarded and forwarded for two years. Who knows how many thousands if not millions of people have seen it, read it and passed it along. It has photos captured during a demonstration. The photos are real, not photo shopped, not tampered with, not enhanced in any way. The text, however, is not at all accurate. It is slanted to portray a certain perspective and to illicit outrage. It is quite successful in that regard. It is racist, it is politically biased, and it is motivated by hatred and fear. If anyone had bothered to Google it to check some facts, they would have learned very quickly that the story attached to the photos was more than inaccurate. It is an urban legend.

Beliefs can be blinders. Beliefs vibrate at a frequency that draws to you more of the same. If you believe a certain thing you will draw to you evidence (true or false evidence) to validate your position. If you are a bigot, a racist, a fearful patriot, you will be drawn to newscasts that amplify your position so you can feel right.

Here's a hint: Bill O'Reilly is an entertainer, not an unbiased journalist. Rush Limbaugh is not a journalist, he is an entertainer. Randi Rhodes is not a journalist, she is an entertainer. If you want to know facts, don't rely on the media. Our current media just reiterates and regurgitates whatever comes across their desks. There are no true journalist anymore. A real journalist gets facts, checks them, double checks them and reports them without personal bias. Today it's about sound bites, graphics and ratings.

Please people, check your facts before forwarding emails that will illicit more fear and hatred. What we need now is hope and change and a fierce determination to differentiate the truth from the lies.

Education in Anthem Arizona

Ah, it's good to be back. I feel like myself again. It's Saturday night and I've just returned from an informative evening presentation for a new private school opening in Anthem, Arizona. The name of the school is The Caepe and I'm very happy to say that my grandson Michael is attending the preschool. The new K through 8th grade school is opening in the fall. I love the teachers, the philosophy, the atmosphere, the mission statement and everything about this school, except the tuition. It is $8,000.00 a year plus many other expenses. Marlie will be ready for pre-school next year and when both kids are in school full time it will require Shanon to work a fulltime job just to pay for them to get the best education money can buy. Certainly the public schools here are failing miserably, as they are in many areas across the country. Private education is the only recourse. My daughter doesn't want to home school, for which I am grateful.

So, my scripting for the next few months will include feeling so very proud of the education my grandchildren are receiving. I feel open to receiving the many new ideas of ways to assist them in their education. I am feeling very open to receive and give my grandchildren the best education. So it is.

My apologies to my loyal readers. I've been preoccupied with family issues and illnesses. As you know, Shanon and the kids arrived a week and a half ago, bringing with them the dreaded flu virus. They had just gotten over it and thought they were free of any bugs but soon after their arrival my 88 year old mother came down with it. This flu, if you haven't heard by now, is a violent, thoroughly painful bug. The vomiting is intense and rib breaking, the diarrhea is explosive and constant, the nausea is unrelenting and sleep depriving, the bone pains are piercing and tear inducing and the weakness is overwhelming. It lasts for several days but feels like several weeks. Shanon arrived on Monday, mother got sick on Thursday, the big party was Saturday and Sunday I had the beginning symptoms. I've nicknamed the flu, "Just Put A Bullet In My Head Flu". I've never, ever, ever been so sick in my life.

It's Thursday and I, or I should say, "we" were supposed to be in Phoenix today. I had to postpone the drive by an extra day just to get my land legs back.

I feel like my whole life was put on hold this week. I feel like I'm rising up from the depths of a dark swamp. Is there still life on this planet? Did anything happen in my absence? Did aliens invade or did the war end? I guess not.

From my Friend Steven

I find that listening to non-physical masters is a delightful way to be reminded of that part of us that is spiritual being and in 2008 on planet Earth, there is no shortage of ways to do this. I find the clarity of thought, the directness of a particular message, and the loving manner in which it is given are all hallmarks of genuine communication from the other side. In that light, I offer you this message from Kuan Yin, a Chinese goddess of mercy, compassion, and protection, which I have taken from Doreen Virtue’s book Archangels & Ascended Masters: A Guide to Working and Healing with Divinities and Deities:

“Here are my sacred instructions: First, have mercy upon yourselves. You have endured much in your land, and you have eons of lessons before you. Only through a gentle touch is Nirvana revealed. Stretch and reach for greatness, but always with a gentle approach. See not opportunities, but allow them to gently come to you as a lotus flower floats upon the currents of water amidst a gentle breeze. Strive, but not with hurry — enjoy the process upon which you embark. Know that each step along the way is akin to a party — a celebration of movement, which is itself a miracle.

“Appreciate the godliness within yourself, within each of you. Do not chide yourself for your errors and mistakes, but laugh, grow, and learn from them instead. You, my gentle child, are doing just fine — in fact, very well indeed.

“If I were to give you any word of wisdom, it would be the word that best embodies love upon this Earth plane to me: compassion. Growing past all shame and embarrassment, and moving toward appreciation, not just for the ‘good’ parts of yourself and others, but for all along the way — it’s all good, believe me. And if you can know that as the eternal truth sooner rather than later, your happiness will come galloping toward you at the speed of mustangs with winged hooves. Believe that as truth. Now.”

* * *

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow evening and/or out and about.

When I do a reading for a client, I seldom remember the information that comes through. I wonder why that is?

Today is My Birthday!

I've decided to be 47 today. I liked 47. My family is here from Phoenix and will be staying for a week or so. We're having a party on Saturday and I'm going to continue the celebration for the rest of the month....as it should be.

I received this email today...I'm sharing it with all mothers....

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response,
the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the
phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't
you see I'm on the phone?' Obviously not; no one can see if I'm on
the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my
head in the corner, because no one can see me at all. I'm invisible;
"The Invisible Mom."

Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this?
Can you tie this? Can you open this?

Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being.
I'm a clock to ask, 'What time is it?' I'm a satellite guide to answer,
'What number is the Disney Channel?' I'm a car to order, 'Right
around 5:30, please.'

I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the
eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude
- but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be
seen again. She's going, she's going, and she's gone!

One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return
of a friend from England. Janice had just gotten back from a
fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed
in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put
together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for
myself as I looked down at my out-of-style dress; it was the only
thing I could find that was clean. My unwashed hair was pulled up in
a hair clip and I was afraid I could actually smell peanut butter in
it. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a
beautifully wrapped package, and said, 'I brought you this.' It was
a book on the great cathedrals of Europe. I wasn't exactly sure why
she'd given it to me until I read her inscription: 'To Charlotte,
with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no
one sees.'

In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would
discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after
which I could pattern my work: No one can say who built the great
cathedrals - we have no record of their names. These builders gave
their whole lives for a work they would never see finished. They
made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their
building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw
everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit
the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving
a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the
man, 'Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam
that will be covered by the roof? No one will ever se e it.' And
the workman replied, 'Because God sees.'

I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was
almost as if I heard God whispering to me, 'I see you, Charlotte.

I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you
does. No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no
cupcake you've baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over.
You are building a great cathedral, but you can't see right now what
it will become.'

At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a
disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of
my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn
pride. I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great
builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will
never see finished, to work on something that their name will never
be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no
cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so
few people willing to sacrifice to that degree.

When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend
he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, 'My Mom gets up at
4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a
turkey for three hours and presses all the linens for the table.'
That would mean I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just
want him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more
to say to his friend, to add, 'you're gonna love it there.'

As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if
we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the
world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty
that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible
women. Great Job, MOM!

A Question Has Been Posed.....

When people go off of their mood disorder medications don't they go back to their old behaviors, attitudes, and personalities that are "normal" for them? If they are depressed people, or manic people, or cycle between the two, whether they are compulsive gamblers, sexually obsessive, loud and dispruptive, angry and violent, or quiet and suicidal, isn't that "normal" for them? Isn't that who they really are? Isn't the medicated version of them, the calm, stable, polite person they are on medication, just a medicated version and not who they really are? Which one is the "real" person?

Is it simply that we want to medicate bipolar people to make it easier for polite society to deal with them? We want to make them easier to live with by not allowing them to be the self destructive, suicidal, compulsive people they are by nature? How do you know who is the "real" person? Should we just allow them to self-destruct and end up in prison, the poor house, a mental institution or an early grave? These are the people who are prone to accidents, criminal behavior, violence and suicide.

My client was diagnosed with a mood disorder. They have labeled her as bipolar. She is facing 43 felony counts. She's only 27 years old. She has totalled three cars, and stolen countless identities and thousands of dollars from hundreds of people. She has broken into dozens of homes and cars and she's been in a dozen different facilities for troubled teens. She has destroyed every relationship she has ever had. She's angry, violent, beligerent and believes she is smarter than anyone alive. Is this who she really is? When she's on medication she is calm, easier to be around, much more pleasant, and rather adorable. But, who is she really? Who is the real Sarah? Is she the violent, angry, beligerant version with a grandious self perception or the medicated, calm, funny and clear-headed version?

I have another friend who recently went off of his medication. I used to think he was a calm, easy-to-be-around, kinda guy. I liked him. I thought that was the "real" version. I've since seen the other version. Which one is real?

Can managing beliefs and emotional energy transcend a chemical imbalance or brain damage? Can a mentally ill person heal the genetic predisposition for bipolar mood disorders without pharmaceutal intervention? And even if belief managment can......still.....which personality is the real version? Do you let the mentally ill decide who they want to present themselves to be? Can we afford to allow them the identity they choose? Or do we medicate the entire population of disordered people? And if we medicate that population, do we include those with borderline disorders? Should we medicate the sex addicts? Do we medicate the criminal mind, the pornography addicts, the child molesters, the alcoholics and drug addicts, the shopaholics and the bitchy, anti-establishment, conspiracy theorists too? Some people would argue that homosexuals are in need of some mind altering pharmaceuticals. And what about the gross, trailor trash parents who leave their babies in cars while they shop at Wal-Mart? Are they mentally retarded or mentally disordered? Do we jail them all or shoot them up?

Why would anyone want to act unkind? Why would anyone choose destruction and isolation over its opposite? A logical, rational, healthy person would want to have healthy relationships and balanced lives, would they not?

I want to know...this has kept me up all night. I know many people who have littered pasts due to so called "mental illnesses." Some have mulitple divorces, some have littered the countryside with off-spring they don't know and don't seem to care about and all of whom find a convenient rationaliztion for their behaviors and decisions. The criminal exibitionist doesn't see what wrong with his behavior. "What's the big deal? It's natural to be naked."

Gwyneth Paltrow's stalker claims his has a mental disorder and doesn't belong in jail but wants to go live with his sister who will make sure he takes his meds. He committed a crime while off his meds and became obsessed with a woman he was sure wanted him.

A judge said that a man who stole two weed wackers from a Home Depot last year is facing 25 years to life because 14 years ago he was convicted of a couple of non violent felonies. He claims he couldn't afford his medication because he lost his job and blah, blah, blah.

Mentally ill or lost soul?

Have to go vote...will continue later....maybe.

disposable diapers

Which is Best? Cloth diapers or disposalbe?

The debate between which type of diaper is best is not an easy question to answer. The reusable cloth diaper isn’t what it used to be. Some cloth diapers now have double or triple layers and a multiply, fiber-filled strip, making them more absorbent than older styles. Some styles of cloth diapers now come with Velcro strips, eliminating the need for those large safety pins. You can launder them at home or turn the job over to a diaper service.

There are also various types and styles of disposable diapers, ranging from simple plastic covered paper diapers to the newest high-tech, cartoon covered, absorbent gel material filled, elastic legged disposables.

With so many different choices, here are some things to take into consideration.

Skin Care & Health concerns:

The greatest concern for parents is to keep their baby’s skin dry, healthy and free from diaper rash. Many things can cause diaper rash. Prolonged wetness, lack of air circulation, soap, chemical and dye allergies, ammonia formed by bacteria that interacts with urine left sitting against the skin and the growth of microbes in the diaper area can all be irritating and cause rashes.

Some concerns about disposable diapers have been about dyes, sodium polyacrylate (the super absorbent gel), and dioxin, which is a by-product of bleaching paper. Sodium polyacrylate has been linked in the past to toxic shock syndrome, allergic reactions and is very harmful and potentially lethal to pets. Some dyes and dioxin according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is known to cause damage to the central nervous system, kidneys, and liver. The (FDA) Food & Drug Administration has received reports that fragrances in disposables caused headaches, dizziness and rashes. Problems reported to the Consumer Protection Agency regarding disposables include, chemical burns, noxious chemical and insecticide odors, babies pulling disposables apart and putting pieces of plastic into their noses and mouth, choking on tab papers and linings, plastic melting onto the skin, and ink staining the skin. Plastic tabs can also tear skin if the diaper is not properly put on the baby.

According to the Journal of Pediatrics, 54 % of one-month old babies using disposable diapers had rashes, 16 % having severe rashes. A study done by a disposable diapers manufacturing company (we won’t name the company, but its one of the largest manufacturers) shows that the incidence of diaper rash increased from 7.1% to 61% with the increased use of throwaway disposable diapers.

Keep in mind that each baby is different; some parents will find their baby does perfectly fine with disposables while other parents may find their baby has some type of reaction to disposables.

On the other hand cloth diapers can cause rashes by not being changed enough or properly cleaned and sanitized after becoming soiled.

It is all a matter of personal preference, how your baby is reacting to a particular diaper and how you feel about other factors that come into play when deciding between cloth and disposables.

The best way to prevent diaper rash is to change diapers, cloth or disposable, frequently. While disposable diapers can hold large quantities of urine, this slight wetness is still against your baby’s skin, which can lead to rashes. Cloth diapers should be changed every time your baby wets and then the diaper should be properly cleaned so all bacteria that may be in the cloth is killed.

Cost:

The cost of diapers is usually a great concern for most parents. Cost estimates show that disposable diapers will run approximately $50 to $80 per month, using a diaper services will cost approximately $50 to $80 per month and laundering your own cloth diapers will cost slightly less at approximately $25 to $60 per month.

The cost of disposable diapers varies due to the wide range of disposables on the market. Some name brands are very expensive, while some store branded disposables can be half the price of name brands. The cost of a diaper service mainly varies because of two factors. One factor being the amount of competition in your area (number of diaper service companies) and the second being the quality of diapers that you choose to use. The cost of laundering your own cloth diapers also varies because of many factors. One factor is the quality of the cloth diaper. Some parents will initially purchase very high quality cloth diapers which will last several years, while other parents might buy low quality diapers which only last for a short time. Another factor is the amount of laundering that is done for each load of dirty diapers. Some parents will only do a minimal amount of cleaning and sanitizing, while other parents will go through many steps to clean a load of dirty diapers. The more cleaning and sanitizing that is performed for each load of diapers the higher the cost. Other factors are your time to launder the diapers, cost of electricity, soap, water, and wear on your washing machine and dryer.

In general, if you compare the cost of the fancier high tech disposable diapers to the cost of laundering your own cloth diapers, you will save money by using cloth diapers and laundering them yourself. If you decide to go with disposable diapers, here are a few tips on how to save money on disposable diapers.

Environment:

There has been much debate over the impact of disposable diapers and cloth diapers on the environment. The pro-disposable diaper advocates say that the extra water used to wash cloth diapers is just as much of an abuse to the environment as the production and disposal of disposable diapers. But taking into consideration the following estimates you will probably agree that disposable diapers are much more harmful to the environment than cloth diapers.

It is estimated that roughly 5 million tons of untreated waste and a total of 2 billion tons of urine, feces, plastic and paper are added to landfills annually. It takes around 80,000 pounds of plastic and over 200,000 trees a year to manufacture the disposable diapers for American babies alone. Although some disposables are said to be biodegradable; in order for these diapers to decompose, they must be exposed to air (oxygen) and sun. Since this is highly unlikely, it can take several hundred years for the decomposition of disposables to take place, with some of the plastic material never decomposing.

The untreated waste placed in landfills by dirty disposable diapers is also a possible danger to contaminating ground water. Pro-disposable advocates say that cleaning cloth diapers uses more energy, and contributes to the load on sanitary sewer systems and potential water pollution. This view really makes no sense if you think about it. The amount of water used per week to wash cloth diapers at home is about the same amount consumed by an adult flushing the toilet four or five times daily for a week. Also, the greater amount of water and energy being used by diaper service companies to wash large amounts of cloth diapers multiple times; the per diaper impact on energy and water supplies is actually less than home washing.

Finally, when flushing solids from a cloth diaper down the toilet and washing the diapers in a washing machine, the contaminated, dirty water from both toilet and washing machine go into the sewer systems where they are properly treated at wastewater plants. This treated wastewater is much more environmentally friendly than dumping untreated soiled disposable diapers into a landfill.

Lip Service

No, Boys....not that kind of lip service. Settle down.

Lip Service of the "I'm an environmentalist." kind. It's hip to be an environmentalist. Put on a "Green Peace" bumper sticker, a "Save the Rain Forests" T-shirt, a peace sign necklace, an OM tattoo and you're doing your part, right? Well, let's see.... Have you started or stopped....

1. Using reusable shopping bags yet?
2. Stopped using Tide or Cheer or Wisk and using eco-friendly detergents?
3. Driving less and walking more?
4. Eating less meat, chicken, and dairy?
5. Wearing more fabrics like, bamboo, hemp, and naturally dyed cottons and silks?
6. Using fewer paper products like, towels, napkins, and bleached tissues?
7. Stopped using bleach altogether? (try peroxide)
8. Spot cleaning your clothes instead of tossing everything in a washer and dryer?
9. Using fans instead of air-conditioners?
10. Keeping household tempurature at 69 instead of 72?
11. Using ashtrays instead of your car window?
12. Buying locally grown foods?
13. Changed out your light bulbs?
14. Picking up after your pets?
15. Flushing your toilet on the third use? "Yellow mellows, brown goes down."
16. Recycled, Reused, Renewed?.
17 Planted a tree?

Any of the above? One or two? Something? No more lip service, folks. Be of service to Mother Earth. It will activate the rejuvenation energy of your body, mind and soul. Remember, the world is a reflection of you.

Medicine Card, Prairie Dog

Prairie Dog

Retreat

Prairie Dog medicine teaches that strength and inspiration can be found by retreating into the stillness that quiets the mind. The strength of this medicine is also knowing when and how to replenish your life force. Prairie Dog medicine people tend to seek self-empowerment in silence and inactivity, where they can access dreams and visions without the intrusions of worldly chaos. When they reenter the world, they are profound and powerful anchors of calm resolve amid life's storms.

The medicine of Prairie Dog is applicable to all of the Marmot Tribe, which includes the Gound Squirrel clan, the Gopher clan, the Woodchuck clan, and the Gound Hog clan. Just as Native American warriors knew when to charge forward and when to become invisible, the Marmot tribe knows how and when to retreat. The Prairie Dog runs for the tunnels when a predator is on its trail; in the winter, it conserves energy by hibernation during the scarce time of the cold moons.

If Prairie Dog has surfaced in our cards today, it may be a warning that your body's fuel gauge is running low. You might need a day of silence or retreat from regular activities before you become too exhausted to carry on. Have you put your basic needs at the bottom of the "To Do" list? Buning the candle at both ends may weaken the punch you can normally pack when tackling the tasks at hand. Take a much needed break before you crash and burn. Prairie Dog teaches you that, in order to access gifts of inspiration and renewal, you must be at peace with yourself and rested enough to recognize the blessings being offered.

If you have been battling a situation without gaining ground, Pairie Dog reminds you that pushing too hard can create a resistance that does not allow for interaction. Take a break! Give it a rest! After a comfortable and relaxed time, you can return with a fresh perspective. In the meantime, the dynamics of the situation may have changed because your retreat allows the present challenge to work itself out. there is ample strength available if you quit pushing and go with the flow. Prairie Dog says its tunnels run both ways; now it is time to choose the backdoor exit for some rest and relaxation.

My mother has a belief that dogs can't be trusted around children, especially when they have food or bones they want to protect. A Rottweiller could take one bite out of a small child and it would be all over. My mother gets nervous and sends out warning signals whenever her dogs were around children. Her dogs had to be "put down" due to their temperment.

Maggie Mae, a beautiful large Rottie, was trained by my daughter and I. Here you can see her with her favorite bone and little Michael is right there, perfectly safe.

When A Goddess Gets The Blues

Why is it that we believe once we have read that book, or reached that age, or taken that course, or healed that old wound, or evolved past that old pattern, or resolved that immature issue that we should evermore be the great, peaceful, all-knowing, all-loving Goddess, all the time? When we were teenagers we thought, "I'm all grown-up now. I know what it's all about." Then we turned 21 and we realized we didn't know shit as teenagers but now that we are 21, well, we have it all figured out. Then we made it to our 30s and we, again, saw clearly that we knew very little about life and our inner workings. We become mothers, care-givers, teachers, professionals and wives. Well then, didn't we know the truth about life? And on and on we went, believing that at some point in this life, we will have it all figured out and we will reach the awareness that we are Source and that nothing will surprise us and we will know, always, what to do, how to feel, and the truth of all that is. Wisdom is what we are seeking. Do we ever get to the stage in life when we are wise 24/7? Do we ever reach the age and stage of the Wise Woman, The Crone The Goddess of Truth and Peace? When do we get to feel glorious everyday? Isn't depression and sadness and confusion for the un-enlightened? Isn't doubt and fear supposed to evaporate as we work towards our inner light?

Some of us feel the need to hide our days of weakness for fear others will judge our growth as false awareness. Once you receive your PhD you should never have to suffer the mental frustrations of the middle mind. Once a healer you should always know how to heal and never get sick. Once an intuitive coach, you should always engage in communication with your Spirital Guides and see your path clearly. Once an
Avatar Master, a Feng Shui Consultant, a Psychic/Medium, a Psychotherapist, a Doctor of What's Happening Now....we're supposed to be the ones with the answers. We're supposed to be the ones who teach and guide others. Right?

WRONG! Even Goddesses get the blues. Be patient and standstill in your sadness or your doubt or your fear. Don't suppress it because it doesn't fit your expectation of what it means to be enlightened. That, in fact, is the opposite of enlightenment. The Master Capenter somestimes mis-measures. The Master Guru sometimes gets into the ego and has to find his way back. Mother Teresa had days of doubt, fear and confusion.

All things, all experiences are temporary. Don't resist your doubt and confusion or your fear and loneliness. Feel it. Whatever you are feeling, in any given moment, is what needs to be experienced. Stand still and experience it. Don't judge it, describe it, think about it, analyse it, or resist it. Simply, sit still with it and feel it. It is a temporary condition. It is part of your process and re-birth. The more you resist being or feeling what it is you are feeling, the longer your labor will be.

The journey is eternal. Each lesson is part of the evolution of your soul. This isn't a race to the finish line or the destination. It is an eternal evolution of experiences.

Here is your Rune: Isa

Standstill
That Which Impedes
Ice

The winter of the spiritual life is upon you. You may find yourself entangled in a situation to whose implications you are, in effect, blind. You may be powerless to do anything except submit, surrender, even sacrifice some long-cherished desire. Be patient, for this is the period of gestation that precedes a rebirth.

Positive accomplishment is unlikely now. There is a freeze on useful activity, all your plans are on hold. You may be experiencing an unaccustomed drain on your energy and wonder why: A chill wind is reaching you over the ice floes of old outmoded habits.

Trying to hold on can result in shallowness of feeling, a sense of being out of touch with life. Seek to discover what it is you are holding onto that keeps this condition in effect, and let go. Shed, release, cleanse away the old. That will bring on the thaw.

Usually Isa requires a sacrifice of the personal, the "I." And yet there is no reason for anxiety. Submit and be still, for what you are experiencing is not necessarily the result of your actions or habits, but of the conditions of the time against which you can do nothing. What has been full must empty; what has increased must decrease. This is the way of Heaven and Earth. To surender is to display courage and wisdom.

At such a time, do not hope to rely on help or friendly support. In your isolation, exercise caution and do not stubbornly persist in attempting to work your will. Remain mindful that the seed of the new is present in the shell of the old, the seed of unrealized potential, the seed of the good. Trust our own process, and watch for signs of spring.

The World is a Reflection of You

When you recognize that you are the source of your beliefs, experiences, emotions, reactions, conditions and attitudes, you regain your sense of empowerment. The "I" that you are, begins to surface in your awareness.

Delete the previously created ideas or beliefs of 'self' and the previously created beliefs about disease and disharmony, delete the energy that continually creates an impression of the past, delete all impressions and experiences of being a victim and you recover your Source Purpose. From this new perspective you can create a new reality.

Imagine that you can make a statement, "I am happy to be me." or "I am joyful", and you are able to instantly create that reality. The only thing between your intentional belief and your experience are previously created beliefs, ideas, impressions or created identities.

For example:

Intented experience: "I am happy to be me."
Previous belief: "If I had more money I'd be happy." or "If I was skinny I'd be happy." or "Happy people aren't cool."

Those previous beliefs re-assert themselves when you make a positive statement contrary to their energy.

When you eliminate the old, previously created beliefs, you instantly feel and experience your intended experience. You are happy to be you!

All beliefs are created by you. Whether you bought them from mommy or daddy or teachers or doctors or any other identity, you bought them and created them in anyway you did, and you programmed your inner consciousness with those beliefs. Once a belief is created it must be experienced in order to delete it.

You have the power to create beliefs or eliminate and delete them. You are the Source of your experience.

Here's the trick. When I was amped up and cleaning out my linen closets, I was resisting feeling and experiencing fear. I responded to a previously created belief with fear. The belief was re-asserted when I made a statement of intention for the new year. I had a doubt spring up about my career path. I had a previously created belief about my ability and purpose in the area of my career. When I sat down on New Year's Eve to begin to create my new intentions, that previously created belief was re-asserted. I responded to that old belief with fear and away I went. Instead of experiencing the fear without responding to it, I resisted it. Instead of feeling it and deleting it and deleting the previously held belief, I resisted. As soon as you try to resist what you are experiencing you shift from creator to creation. I became the fear.

My next response or reaction was to avoid the feeling with busy work. I could have used any number of distractions, (anything excessive or compulsive or obsessive) ie. over eating, random sex, excessive gambling, drugs, alcohol, sleep, television, reading, cleaning(my personal favorite), over-exercise, jumping into someone else's business, etc. Any adrenaline activating behavior such as, criminal activities, excessive shopping, or dangerous sports would work. All of those behaviors take you out of your feelings.

How simple is it to choose not to respond to a belief with an emotion but instead own it, feel it, and choose to delete it.

To manifest your intentions you must be able to feel them. You must be able to delete conflicting ideas and beliefs. There are numerous technologies from numerous sources to teach you how to do this work. There are hypnosis scripts, visualization exercises, Avatar procedures, meditation processes, all kinds of ways to do this work. Find a teacher, mentor, coach or Avatar Master to lead you to your Source Awareness.

Imagine what it would be like to state your intention, feel it, activate it, experience it, expand it, amplify it, and create it as your reality.

Go look in the mirror. Look into your eyes and say, "I love you." Say it until you feel it. Give yourself permission to remember who you are. Be willing to explore your conscious universe. All of your beliefs about being a woman or a man or a mother or a father or any other reality, are in the hard drive of your own mind. They are running in the background of your consciousness and are creating your perception of reality. Those beliefs are the filters through which you view your life.

Do you have a belief that "life is hard"? Do you hold a vibration "relationships suck." "People are mean" "Governments are suppressive" "Rules are meant to be broken." "Money is evil" ????

Would you prefer to hold the beliefs and vibrations and experiences of, "I am wealthy." "I love my life." "I am loving and lovable." "Life is fun." "I'm excited about my future." "I'm always radiantly healthy." "I am intuitive." "I am a healer."
"I am Source."

You get to choose. You are the source of it all.

From Harry Palmer

"A self is an idea that awareness is availing itself of for the purpose of experiencing certain other ideas. It's the bubble you view other bubbles from."

"You deserve to experience your creation of you in all its wonder."

Aware: Watchful; vigilant; knowing

Will: the power to decide; to direct; to decree

Feel what it feels like to be only...
effortlessly......

AWARE WILL

"Just Stop It!"

Every now and again an old pattern or behavior is triggered by a thought or belief or emotion and I find myself talking shit inside my head. I'll berate myself for something I did or didn't do, or I'll question previous decisions or I'll gnaw on an old issue. I sometimes worry about decisions I have to make or fret over someone else's situation. I'll try to analyse some one's behavior or condemn their stubborn resistance. When this happens, I start cleaning. That's what I do when I get into a snit about something. I'll clean out another closet or organize my ancient sewing box or scrub the concrete patio floor. Not a dust bunny is safe when I'm worried or angry. Not a window sill or baseboard is out of my radar range. I'll mumble and fume over something someone did or said or reconstruct an old memory for further evaluation. Most of the time the thoughts are negative, judgmental, and punctuated with expletives unbecoming a Goddess. I'll call myself names while I use a scrub brush on my window screens. I'll toss around ideas back and forth while my hands are busy polishing all the glass in the house. Everyone knows to clear the decks when the brass polish comes out. "Uh-oh, she's cleaning knobs on the lamps again. Let's get out of here."

It used to be really bad in the 80s. If I was worried or afraid of something I'd be up all night on my hands and knees cleaning the tile grout with a toothbrush. My mind burning up thoughts at 100,000 tpm. (thoughts per minute) When my daughter was a teenager I worried more than usual but my house was spotless. You could literally eat off of my floors. Not so much these days.

One day my daughter said to me, "Mom, what good is it to have a beautiful, clean house if it doesn't feel like a comfortable home?" Damn those kids. When did she get smarter than me?

I was feeling blue a few weeks ago and found myself standing in front of my linen closet pulling everything out and wiping out all the dust from the corners. I created a pile of old worn out massage sheets, dingy towels and more than a few bottles of lotions and potions dating back a few years. As the piles in the hallway grew, the thoughts in my head amplified. Some old habits die hard, as they say. I was nagging at myself for not being decisive about a particular situation. I was feeling guilty and therefore angry. Nag, nag, nag. Blah, blah, blah. The linen closet was completely empty and the hallway was impassable with the piles for Goodwill and the piles for recycling and the giant bag of trash. The whole mess became overwhelming to me so I walked into my office for a break.

There, on the little table between the swivel chairs, along with my crystals and seashells was the rock Carmelita bought for me on her visit here last month. She bought one for herself, as well. You see, I'm not the only one who needs a reminder from time to time.

My table holds several rocks lasered with words of inspiration. Love, Peace, Serenity, Joy, Laugh, Breathe. Carm's rock says, "Just Stop It!" Ha! There it was, staring me in the face. It was the message I most needed to hear at that particular moment. "Just Stop It!" I laughed right out loud!

An unhealthy behavior that could have lasted all day long, lasted only half an hour. I was snapped out of it by a rock. "Just Stop It!" I smiled the rest of the day.

You see, I got lost inside my own head. I tell my clients, "Your mind is not your friend." If a situation is troubling you, or a decision needs to be made, don't ask yourself what you think about it....what do you FEEL about it? My feelings were what I was refusing to acknowledge. I was resisting my feelings. The energy built up and away I went into an old behavior. Blah, blah, blah. Nag, nag, nag. As soon as I sat down to feel what it was I was resisting, the compulsive behavior subsided. I was afraid. I was afraid of making a wrong decision. I was afraid to move forward. I was feeling guilty entertaining an idea that would affect my mother in a way I knew she wouldn't like.

By the way, my hips were bothering me. That is a sure sign of the fear of moving forward. I should have known. But, we sometimes put blinders on when it comes to our own shit.

I felt my fear, I healed my worry, I stopped resisting my guilt and I embraced my new exciting future. Instantly, my hip pain disappeared and my compulsive obsessive behavior ceased. Oh, I managed to finish the linen closet, but I did it without the negative thinking. I did it slowly, with a smile and I danced to music as I finished the job.

"Orbs, The Veil Is Lifting"

The orb phenomenon has exploded with the new technology of the digital camera. Orbs, of course, have been around for thousands of years and depicted in ancient art, but now, everyone with a cheap digital camera can capture the image of the light orbs that have been with us since the beginning of consciousness.

With this in mind, I have chosen the movie for this month. "Orbs, The Veil Is Lifting"

Bodywork with Mindwork, with Energywork, with....

A pound or two of deep tissue bodywork, in conjunction with four ounces of Avatar work, with a dash of hypnosis and a sprinkle of Reiki, frosted throughly with manifesting meditation and you've got a session of amazing healing down to the cellular level. I've done some amazing work in my 30 years as a healer but this combo is out of this world. I just don't know what to call it. Gwen used to say coming to me for massage work is getting a twofer. Healer for the mind, healer for the body. But this new combo is just about the most powerful work I've ever done. Now, what do I call it?

ONE, THE BEGINNING

It's hard to see the light in the dead of Winter — but hidden within the darkness of this time, new beginnings and new thought forms are stirring up the ether. Those invisible forces have so much to say about what will emerge for us in the coming year. 2008 vibrates to the number 'one'. From a numerological perspective, one is where we start all over again — and the nascent energies that rule January will be amplified by the 'one' vibration that governs the upcoming cycle. What we hold in our hearts and what we are able to envision in spite of the darkness that surrounds us will write the script for the year ahead.

I hope this works.....

Here is a link to an inspirational video. I hope you enjoy it.

Notice new links

I added a couple of links to wonderful resources for a spiritual feast of entertainment "The Spiritual Cinema Circle", and information, "Science of Peace".

This month I will host a movie and snack evening for anyone interested. I have a new HD flat screen television large enough for everyone to get a great view. I have plenty of seating space and the kitchen will be open for snacks and beverages. You're invited to send me an email and I'll send back to you the date and time and directions.

I don't know about you, but I find it increasingly more difficult to find movies in the theaters that are entertaining and uplifting. I don't enjoy watching movies about adultery, murder, incest, war or frivolous and demeaning violence and high drama. It simply bores me now. I want to put my attention on more positive images. If I want to watch war, terrorism, lies, deceit and negativity I'll turn on Fox News.

Enlighten Up Evenings will now commence! Come join me!

What In Your Soul Will You Feed?

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The wise, old Cherokee simply replied, "THE ONE YOU FEED"

Medicine Cards

I pulled a medicine card this morning for insight and guidance.

Owl.....deception...........

Owl medicine is symbolically associated with clairvoyance, astral projection, and magic, both black and white. Owl is called Night Eagle on several medicine wheels used by Amerindian teachers. Traditionally, Owl sits in the East, the place of illumination. Since time immemorial, humanity has been afraid of the night, the dark, and unseen - waiting fearfully for the first crack of morning light. Conversely, night is Owl's friend.

Owl hunts its prey at night. Not only can Owl see in the dark, it can also accurately pinpoint and identify sound. This gives it a great advantage when seeking food. Owls are the night hunters. Some Native people are fearful of Owl and call its feathers "deceiver feathers." An Owl feather is silent. You cannot hear Owl when it flies, but its prey definitely knows when it strikes, for its beak and talons are razor sharp.

Owl is oftentimes the medicine of sorcerers and witches. If Owl is your medicine, you will be drawn to magical practices and perhaps explore the dark arts. You should resist any temptation to practice black magic or any art that takes energy away from another person or being. If you have Owl medicine, these night birds will have a tendency to collect around you, even in the daytime, because they recognize a kinship with you.

Is it any wonder that in many cultures Owl is a symbol for wisdom? This is because Owl can see that which others cannot, which is the essence of true wisdom. Where others are deceived, Owl sees and knows what is there.

Athena, the Greek goddes of wisdom, had a companion Owl on her shoulder which revealed unseen truths to her. Owl had the ability to light up Athena's blind side, enabling her to speak the whole truth, as opposed to only a half truth.

If Owl is your personal medicine, no one can deceive you about what they are doing, no matter how they try to disguise or hide it from you. You may be a little frightening to be around, since so many people have ulterior motives which you see right through. If you are unaware of your medicine power, you may take your keen insights and abilities for granted. Others never do. You may frighten them and reflect their blindness, for you cannot be fooled. Owl medicine people know more about an individual's inner life than that person knows about herself or himself.

If you have pulled the Owl card, you are being asked to use your powers of keen, silent observaton to intuit some life situation. Owl is befriending you and aiding you in seeing the total truth. Owl can bring you messages in the night through dreams or meditation. Pay atention to the signals and omens. The truth always brings further enlightenment.

Ah Love, Beautiful Love

If you are not in love at the moment, surely you've been in love at some point in your life. Do you remember? Picture, not the person with whom you fell, but what you felt at that time. The person is not the important part of this exercise. In fact, for some of you, picturing the person may bring up the wrong feelings. Close your eyes and remember the feeling. Take a few deep breaths to clear your body of other emotions that this week or month has surfaced. Really clear the decks for that particular feeling of being in Love. The big Love. It may be the first time you held your baby or the first high school kiss, or the day of your wedding or the righteous car in the showroom at the first of the year. Maybe it was the first time you went fishing with your grandfather and fell in love with the outdoors and the whole experience. For most it is that special feeling a certain someone activated in you. Do you remember the feeling in your belly? You can't help but smile when you bring up that feeling. When life is beautiful and patience is plenty, do you remember?

Remember the beautiful sunsets and maybe the hand holding. Remember the excitement of being near the object of your affection. Feel the excitement, feel the smile creep up on your face. Remember it and feel it. Feel it and amplify it. Turn up the dial on LOVE. Turn up the dial on the volume of LOVE. Turn up the vibration of LOVE. Not for any particular person or thing....just the feeling. It's in you. It was not given to you by another person or thing....it's in you. It's always been in you. Take five or ten minutes to feel it and amplify it today because that is the REASON for this season.

May you be blessed with LOVE today and always....

Psychotic Medication

If you asked Tom Cruise what he thinks about pharmaceutical intervention for mental illnesses, he'd jump up and down shouting the L. Ron Hubbard philosophy of any and all mental conditions being a result of earlier programming, good and bad. I read Hubbard's book, "Dianetics" in the 80s and found it to be very interesting and in alignment with the teachings of Royce Morales, Wayne Dyer, even Deepak Chopra. Basically, "garbage in, garbage out." I would agree, that in most cases, this is true.

Many energetic belief systems are in place due to programmed experiences and memories that are running in the unconscious mind and interfere with daily, present day, present moment, clarity. Those memories, experiences and beliefs run an interference pattern that obstructs our mental vision. It's like trying to get a clear picture on a 1950 television, with rabbit ears. For those of you born after 1970, you may have to look that up.

I remember those old televisions with rabbit ear antennas. Sometimes we'd have to hold them in a certain position or hang foil on them to get even the slightest fuzzy, static-filled, reception. Chucko the Clown would look like he was in a snowstorm if the antenna wasn't in the right position or if the weather outside was interfering. All of the static and interference distorted the picture so that you weren't quite certain what Chucko was doing with his balloons. If you think of all of the dis-empowering beliefs and memories being that static on your screen, you'll see where I'm headed here.

Compare that old static-filled screen with the crystal clear picture of a High Def, cable or satellite connection you can get today. Without all of that atmospheric interference you can see with absolute clarity. Some people can get clarity through processing out the old static-causing memories, beliefs, and energetic interferences with the help of a mentor, teacher, therapist or even a book or CD. There would not be any need for cable or satellites. But others may need the help of a cable patch. If you think of a cable connection being the medication for mental illness, the pharmaceutical patch, the chemical cable, you can see the need for intervention in many cases.

Not everyone can see the static for what it is. Some people get so used to the static that they don't know the difference or even think that there can be more pristine clarity. To them, Chucko is just fine in a snow storm. It may be that Chucko 'needs' to be in a snowstorm. It may be, to a patient with mental illness, that Chucko looks that way in reality and the clarity of High Def is all wrong.

If your television has been dropped and is damaged, even a cable patch can't help you. If your receiver lost a part, no satellite is going to make your picture clearer. But, if all your parts are working and in place, as is the case with most of us, then clearing out the static is all that is needed.

Now, here's the deal. I have a friend who stopped paying his cable bill, so to speak. The static has returned and he thinks that's the way is should be. He got tired of paying the bill, that is, he got tired of the side-effects of using a pharmaceutical patch for his bi-polar condition. His static could have been caused by a genetic condition. His mother couldn't stand the static she was getting so when her son was 17, she killed herself. His sister has so much static on her reception that she has used several pharmaceutical patches and seems to be stable. Her side effects don't seem to bother her. My friend, well, he has lost it. His static is so distorting reality that he has a restraining order against him. He has been banned from Hollywood Park and he has stalked a young woman who gave him an hour of her time and attention. Our friendship is coming to an end. He has said that I cannot be his friend if I am a friend of his wife's. His static is so loud and so fuzzy that there is no ability for clear communication.

Could he be helped with a mentor or a teacher who can process out the static? Would removing the static layers, one by one, or group by group, give him clarity? Could he have clarity without a cable patch? I think yes. But, and here's the big but...he would have to want to, and he doesn't. He said that he is happier than he has been in his life. He feels like he is a descended angel. His doctor would call this manic euphoria. I think it's part of the detox process.

Don't get me wrong. I totally believe there is a strong need for medical intervention for depression, bi-polar disorders, and psychosis of all varieties. However, I have to agree with L. Ron Hubbard. Garbage in, garbage out.

If my friend wanted to delete the static of emotional turmoil in his memory bank , I believe he can. It's all energy. All beliefs and memories are energy. Static energy. Even genetic conditions are shifted by the energy of our conscious attention. There is no condition that cannot be cleared with the conscious, energetic intention of our soul. We can have the clear, static-free reception without a cable, without a satellite, without pharmaceutical intervention. You have to want it.

An email I received this morning contained this....

"As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields." - Tolstoy

At holiday gatherings, let's have a moment of remembrance and respect for the beings for whom these are "Horror Days" – 65 million innocent turkeys murdered for "thanks" and then the birth of one called "Prince of Peace"; countless intelligent pigs, killed for ritual consumption that Jesus, a vegan Jewish rabbi, would never eat or approve under his biblical dietary mandate - Genesis 1:29 ("Then God said, 'Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you.' Scripting about financial abundance

I have a dear friend named, MONEY. She is a wonderful energetic partner in my life and she is so much fun. She surprises me by showing up in my wallet and in my bank account all the time. She has the wonderful ability to multiply like bunny rabbits. She loves to have fun with me. She takes me to the movies and she buys me lunch. She loves to help me decorate my home and she even takes me to the spa for a massage, a facial and a new hair-do. I love my friend, MONEY and she loves me right back. She shows up everywhere I go. Today I am amplifying, in my body, the magnetic point of attraction for her. We are working together to end world hunger and to help all children find shelter and an education. We are working together to heal Mother Earth by planting trees and visiting GREEN PEACE. She's a great Friend to me and my family. I want to hug her today and tell her how much I love her and how much I appreciate her abundant presence in my life. Today I am paying bills with her and we are going to listen to music as we work together.....Together we can do miraculous things. She travels all over the world and she loves all that she does with her energy. She brings food to the hungry, she lights up the dark places for our safety, she builds machines that help doctors and nurses heal the sick. She supports scientists who are finding solutions for every problem. She's an amazing, powerful vibration and I welcome her in my life. I amplify her love by sending her out into the world with my blessings. I am blessed to have her as my friend and I welcome her.
A friend is someone who sees through you and still enjoys the view. ~ Alan Cohen

Winter Solstice

I call myself the Goddess of Christmas. I used to get all crazy this time of year, decorating, cooking, baking, shopping, gift wrapping. My house looked like a department store with lighted greenery draped around the fireplace, the banisters, the chandelier, the front door, everywhere I could reach, including the bathroom mirror. I had beautifully wrapped gifts stacked up, one on top of the other, stretching into the living room.

Then one year, I realized that I had fallen for the trap, the commercialized Christmas, the Hallmark version of the celebration of Love and Peace. How did I get so insane?

I'm quite certain it started in my childhood. In the fifties nobody realized the pollution we were generating by our decadent spending and over-the-top decorating. I do remember feeling bad that we were all cutting down trees to celebrate the birth of Jesus and I somehow knew that wasn't right.

Back then I compared the number of gifts I received to the number my friends got. Did it mean they were loved more if they got more? Did it mean their father was more successful than mine if they had a bigger tree, more lights, more stuff? What was it all about....?

Of course, I was told in Sunday school, that Christmas was a time to celebrate the message of Christ, the Prince of Peace. I knew it was supposed to be about sharing love and not about what you unwrapped but....hey, I was a kid. I had a big family, four sisters and a brother. In my house it was about stuff.

There are a couple of movies out, "What Would Jesus Buy?" The film focuses on the issues of the commercialization of Christmas, materialism, the over-consumption in American culture, globalization, and the business practices of large corporations, as well as their economic and cultural effects on American society, as seen through the prism of activist/performance artist Bill Talen, who goes by the alias of "Reverend Billy," and his troupe of activists, whose street theater performances take the form of a church choir called "The Church of Stop Shopping," that sings anti-shopping and anti-corporate songs. The film follows Billy and his choir as they take a cross-country trip in the month prior to Christmas 2005, and spread their message against what they perceive as the evils of patronizing the retail outlets of several different large corporate chains. The other is, "The Story of Stuff" It's about the where stuff comes from, how it is processed, how it is manufactured, sold and how polluting to our bodies, our planet and our consciousness it all is.

I want to bring back a simpler version of Christmas. One that doesn't consume tons of foil wrapping paper and packaging that ends up in landfills. I want to celebrate in a way that supports Mother Earth and shows love to all people. How do I do that? I'm going to start by not sending Christmas cards and I'm cancelling all catalogs. I refuse to shop in department stores and I won't be wrapping any gifts in polluting wrap.

There's a store near me, Harmony Works, where they sell organic, and recycled items made into art. Glass dishes made from tossed bottles, cards and paper printed on recycled newspapers, books, CDs and candles for inspiration and made locally. I am now a conscious consumer and no longer will I fall for the 'over-the-top' consumerism we call "The Holidays"

Join me, will you?

"Getting inside their heads....really inside

Presidential candidates'health is a campaign issue. So what about their brains?

By Daniel G. Amen

What do Rudy Giuliani's messy personal life, John McCain's temper and Hillary Clinton's inability to seem authentic have in common? Maybe nothing. They may be just overblown issues in the otherwise normal lives of candidates under the political microscope.

Such symptoms, however, may mean a lot - such as evidence of underlying brain dysfunction. Sometimes people with messy personal lives have low prefrontal cortex activity associated with poor judgment; sometimes people with temper problems have brain damage and impulse control problems; sometimes people who struggle with authenticity have trouble really seeing things from someone else's perspective.

Is the brain health of a presidential candidate a fair topic in an election year? Certainly Dick Cheney's heart condition wasn't off-limits in 2000, nor have questions about McCain's age been considered out of bounds. The White House issues a complete medical history of the president each year - detailing everything from his seasonal allergic rhinitis to his adenomatous colon polyps. Clearly we care about the health outlook for our elected leaders. Should we go so far as to do brain scans of candidates for the Oval Office? Some people might consider discussing brain health a ridiculous idea. Not me.

As a neuropsychiatrist and brain-imaging expert, I want our elected leaders to be some of the "brain healthiest people" in the land. How do you know about the brain health of a presidential candidate unless you look? The brain is involved in everything humans do: how we think, how we feel, how we get along with others, how we negotiate, how we pay attention in meetings and how we turn away the advances of White House interns or decide to invade a country based on contradictory intelligence.

Three of the last four presidents have shown clear brain pathology. President Reagan's Alzheimer's disease was evident during his second term in office. Nonelected people were covering up his forgetfulness and directing the country's business. Few people knew it, but we had a national crisis. Brain studies have been shown to predict Alzheimer's five to nine years before people have their first symptoms.

President Clinton's moral lapses and problems with bad judgment and excitement-seeking behavior - indicative of problems in the prefrontal cortex - eventually led to his impeachment and a poisonous political divisiveness in the U.S. The prefrontal cortex houses the brain's supervisor, involved with conscience, forethought, planning, attention span and judgment.

One could argue that our current president's struggles with language and emotional rigidity are symptoms of temporal lobe pathology. The temporal lobes, underneath your temples and behind your eyes are involved with language, mood stability, reading social cues and emotional flexibility.

A national leader with brain problems can potentially cost millions of people their lives. Milosevic and Hussein give us recent historical examples. Both of Milosevic's parents committed suicide, he had serious bouts of depression and reportedly drank heavily - all signs that point to brain problems. He was found to be unreasonable and unreliable in negotiations and heartless as a political leader. Hussein was described as paranoid and without empathy, also symptoms pointing to poor brain function. His mother suffered severe bouts of depression and attempted suicide while pregnant with him, which is known to affect a baby's developing brain. He was physically and emotionally abused by his stepfather. All of these stresses must have been involved in shaping his paranoid brain into a mind that could torture dissenters, murder relatives and launch chemical attacks that killed thousands.

Functional scans, such as Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography, provide a window into the brain. Doctors can now see healthy or dysfunctional brain patterns, much as we can assess the strength of a heart or measure hormone levels, and recognize trouble. All doctors might not agree on the interpretation, but there is a growing body of scientific literature establishing what these scans mean, such as attention deficit disorder or a predisposition for Alzheimer's

Ensuring that our president has a healthy brain may be more than an interesting topic of conversation. It can be important information to put into the election equation. A president with brain problems could wreak havoc on the U.S. and the world at large. Maybe we shouldn't leave the health of our president's brain to chance. We have the tools; shouldn't we look?

Jaqueline Walker Watson 1923-2007

My Aunt Jackie passed over this morning, a mere twenty minutes ago. On Thanksgiving Day she was singing songs with her children and grandchildren and she sat at the family table to eat her turkey with all the fixin's. She smiled and radiated love all around that table. She was blind but you'd never have guessed it. Her beautiful blue eyes were clear and intent. It was a wonderful gift to her family to have her present one last time.

I have a photograph of my Aunt Jackie and my mother on the beach, not more than a mile from my home. It was taken in 1940 and they were hot! Bombshells, is what my father called them. Tall, long legged, beauties, they were. The Sisters. Each had a radiant smile, beautiful skin, and those blue eyes. It's no wonder the boys chased after them with coursages and candies.

Gary, Nancy, Peggy and Paul are Jackie's children, my cousins. All of them are intelligent, college educated, successful and the most fun cousins I have. These are the cousins, out of 24 that I always gravitated to during the hundreds of family functions.

We were all together Monday, at Jackie's bedside. All the memories of the holiday gatherings, family reunions, memorial services, weddings and showers, funny stories and family love spread out all over the room. My mother held her sister's hand, I stroked her head, we all said our good-byes, and this morning she took her last breath.

Jackie Walker Watson, a wonderful mother, a delightful aunt and loving baby sister has left this world a better place. What more can anyone ask of woman?

Be Careful What You Ask For

Spirit has a sense of humor, I'm sure you know. Sometimes I don't find my Spirit Guides to be all that funny, until after a few days of introspection...even then, you may not find me laughing at all.

As each year comes to a close, I usually take time to evaluate the passing year and my behaviors and perspectives, my successes and my failures. I look at my weaknesses and my strengths and I sometimes beat myself up for what I am not. That doesn't mean I do anything to change it...I just simply punish myself for not being a better person, a more responsible grown-up, a more enlightened individual, a more humble servant of God. I fail more than succeed in that department. It's not that I don't want to be a better human being, I just don't want it to be a hard job. LOL It's like I want to be a concert pianist but I don't want to practice, and in fact, never buy the piano. I want to run a marathon but I never put on my running shoes. I want to be a success in my practice, but....I don't really want to advertise, market myself, or write the content for my website. I want to be an author, but I seldom spend time on the books I've begun. I want all my bills paid in a timely manner, but I never seem to get to them in time. I desire a loving relationship but refuse to date.

I am a right-brained individual. I am intuitive, creative, a dreamer, a romantic, an aspiring free spirit without a fully developed left-brain. I am a rebel without a cause. I am irresponsible and a flagrantly defiant citizen. There are laws I don't agree with and rules I refuse to follow. I don't want anyone telling me what to do and I am a non-compliant patient. I am my own worst client!

I decided, at the ripe old age of 56, that it is time I develop my left brain and step into the role of being my own personal assistant. I decided it was time to clean up my past behaviors and mistakes and take responsibility for my finances, my health and my well-being. I scripted a couple of weeks ago for Spirit to assist me in releasing old habits and patterns that were impeding my growth and my more expanded success. Then, as my usual pattern, I did nothing to clean up old garbage that was cluttering my life. Oh I cleaned house, and organized drawers and decorated the house beautifully, (busy work for the feeble minded as John has said) I threw out old junk and sold or gave away the rest. I cleared my space for the new year and the new life I was preparing for. I got new tires and brakes, renewed my auto insurance, registered my car, (albeit four months late). But the big ones, the heavy burdens I've been avoiding for years, I left untouched, unexamined, hidden-away in the baggage I carry everyday.

Spirit, in its infinite wisdom, provided me a growth opportunity in the form of a two-by-four right between the eyes. You see, I registered my car at AAA where I am a member. I was told to fax my proof of insurance to the DMV and return to pick up my sticker. Well, I faxed the proof and skipped step number three. I headed to Phoenix for my long traveling month. Now, here's the kicker. 12 years ago, I drove to Tucson Arizona for a family emergency. Not my family, my boyfriend, Zorro's family. On our way out of Arizona I received a speeding ticket. I was to appear at the Quartzite Court to handle it, but, instead, I thought to myself...."Self? What does it matter? You're never going back to Arizona. Screw it!" I never forgot about the ticket, although I'd like to pretend I forgot. In fact, I never forgot and it hung over my head for years. When my daughter moved to Phoenix I knew I should take care of it, but.....never got around to it. Well...you see where I am headed here, right?

The Highway Patrol pulled in behind me on Wednesday afternoon. He turned on his lights to signal me to pull over. I knew immediately why. My license plate was lacking that little sticker. He checked his computer and in fact, my car was not registered. I skipped step number three, remember? Step number three was to go back to AAA and pay a $14 fee for reinstatement and receive my little sticker. (These things I do always cost me many times over what they would if I would just comply in the first place!) So, he asked for my drivers license and that's when it got ugly. Low and behold, that old speeding ticket had gone to warrant for failure to appear. My driving privileges in the state of Arizona had been suspended 12 years ago. He informed me that my car was to be impounded for 30 days and that I was under arrest! Me! Handcuffed in the back of a Highway Patrol car, quivering like a little chihuahua!

Fortunately I wasn't taken to jail, although I could have been. Spirit spared me that nightmare, and I am grateful. I asked spirit to assist me in releasing old habits and patterns, then I waited. I didn't actively take ACTION!

I wanted to play the piano but.....

So, today I am cleaning up old messes from the distant past. I am not decorating a tree, I am not Christmas shopping, I am not avoiding reality. I am paying my debt to society for being a defiant, non-compliant citizen. I asked Spirit and Spirit immediately provided the perfect opportunity to comply. Thank you very much.

Oh! And here's a giant P.S. The cruel irony in all of this? These qualities or faults I see in myself? These are the exact qualities or faults I judge most harshly in others. Mirror, mirror on the wall. Don't ya just hate when that happens?

Channeled Info, Thanks Steven Morrison of Idyllwild Healing Arts

Today I share with you excerpts from a communication by The Brotherhood of Light, a group of non-physical beings who channel their messages through a human being named Edna Frankel. I got this from the July 2006 issue of Sedona: A Journal of Emergence. My intention is to give us a bit of context for why people like us would even be engaging in something like a Spiritual Workout in the first place:

“You are becoming aware of the existence of your greater being, meeting and merging with your own higher self in a fully conscious way, at all levels. You are also finally realizing that you are all connected!...You are all bound within the energetic framework of this planet, which is the electromagnetic house within which your bodies reside. So you are connected not only to one another but to all forms of life, to all energy patterns of life on this planet, including the weather. Have you noticed, dear ones, that the worse your world chaos becomes, the worse the weather patterns get? We use the word “worse” as you would from your human perspective of what you see happening. You see the chaos, the discord, the disharmony as getting worse, as being unmanageable and as a huge, global mess with no solution in sight.

“Ah, but from Spirit’s perspective, what a lovely situation to have! Your lessons are no longer separate, no longer isolated, no longer hidden. Everyone is involved — all peoples, all cultures, all countries. Why? In order to finally transmute these lessons off this planet, they must be played out and resolved in common consensus at the global level. Why do we keep saying that all humans must rise together, as all levels of reality also rise together? Because that is how lessons are transmuted, healed, and released from the global consciousness. Those isolated pockets of lessons must be raised up to the light, or they will remain interlocked in the human weave, keeping it dense, dark, and unable to rise.

“When light is shed in a space, all that was dark becomes revealed. Why do you think the lessons of war on this planet have grown from tribe against tribe to nation against nation to isolated pockets of terrorists? Look at the patterns within the grand design! You’re up to flushing out those pockets, as all societies realize that the need to live in peace and share resources is the only viable path to survival as a human species. Congratulations — you have reached the final crossroads!

“What is that higher light being shed? Spiritual integrity, dear ones, the highest good of all, is becoming your comfort zone of morality rather than the individual good of one without regard for the rest. That way hasn’t worked, has it? Yes, you still have the basic forms in place of judgment, guilt, blame and shame, but you are learning to forgive the past and move forward in the Now...That is your new focus...

“Why do you hear from so many spiritual sources to think globally and act locally? Why are you encouraged to clean up your own backyard and just keep faith for the rest of the world to get better? Why are you told, time and again, that global peace is achieved one heart at a time? Because of the energetic connection between all humans! Because you are all becoming so globally aware, so interconnected by the Internet and the news media, that your backyard is now connected to every other backyard. What happens in Africa or Nepal comes into your television set in North and South America, in Europe, in Asia, in Australia, around the globe and back again...

“...As long as you see yourselves as separate beings from the life forms all around you, that separation causes the haves and the have nots. Once you start to see, think and feel from the higher perspective of “all is One,” then you realize that all you do affects everyone and everything around you. And herein lies your power, dear human. How do you see yourself? Do you see yourself as small and separate or as being powerfully connected to all life? Are you at the mercy of your fate or in charge of your destiny? It’s all a matter of perspective ...

“...as the Mayans predicted, 2012 was called the end of time. We say that it will be the end of time as you know it, where you carry forward the pain of a lesson from the past in order to learn it and heal it in your present and future. The new construct of variable time in the Age of Aquarius is replacing many old, fear-based constructs that limited your reality in the Age of Pisces. It is time to carry the love forward, dear ones, and leave all the rest behind. Learning to love all and all learning to love will bring peace to Earth...Peace will come soon, dear ones, for you are bringing it in by sheer faith.”
A Secret Scrolls message from Rhonda Byrne,
Creator of The Secret

Two words which will change your life!

There are two words that, when spoken, have the most unfathomable power to completely change your life. Two words which, when they pass your lips, will be the cause of bringing absolute joy and happiness to you. Two words that will create miracles in your life. Two words that will wipe out negativity. Two words that will bring you abundance in all things. Two words which, when uttered and sincerely felt, will summon all the forces and vibrations in the Universe to move all things for you.

The only thing standing between you, happiness, and the life of your dreams, are two words...

THANK YOU

Gratitude is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to transform your life. If you become truly grateful, you will magnetize absolute joy to you everywhere you go, and in everything you do. In fact, without gratitude, nothing can ever change. Your life will change to the degree that you use gratitude and begin to feel grateful. If you are just a little bit grateful, your life will change a little bit. If you are very grateful, your whole life will change. If you live gratitude every single day, you will become one of the greatest human beings on the planet, and the light of your life will uplift our world.

The greatest human beings who have ever lived showed us the way with gratitude, and by their example became shining lights in our history. Einstein said "thank you" hundreds of times every single day! Ancient wisdom dating back thousands of years gave us the truth about gratitude. Every single religion speaks of giving thanks. All the sages and saviors of the world demonstrated the use of gratitude in all their teachings.

Of the thousands of letters we receive from people whose lives have become miracles after experiencing The Secret, every single one of them has made gratitude their way of life. It is impossible to be negative when you are giving thanks. It is impossible to criticize or blame when you are feeling grateful. It is impossible to feel sad when you are in gratitude. Most people are sporadically grateful, however, to change your life with gratitude, a new way of learning how to be truly grateful is what will bring unlimited happiness into your life.

So how do you live in gratitude? Begin your day by feeling grateful. Be grateful for the bed you just slept in, the roof over your head, the carpet or floor under your feet, the running water, the soap, your shower, your toothbrush, your clothes, your shoes, the car that you drive, your job, your friends, your refrigerator that keeps your food cold. Be grateful for the weather, the sun, the sky, the birds, the trees, the grass, the rain, and the flowers. Be grateful for the stores that make it so easy to buy the things you need, the restaurants, the utilities and services and electrical appliances that make your life effortless. Be grateful for magazines and the books that you read. Be grateful for the chair that you sit on, and the pavement that you walk on. Be grateful for your favorite music that sweeps you away, and for movies that make you feel good. Be grateful for your phone that connects you with people, for your computer, for the electricity that lights up your life. Be grateful for air travel that flies you everywhere. Be grateful for the roads and traffic lights that keep the traffic in order. Be grateful to those who built our bridges. Be grateful for your pet, for your child, for your loved ones, for your eyes that enable you to read this. Be grateful for your imagination. Be grateful that you can think! Be grateful that you can speak. Be grateful that you can laugh and smile. Be grateful that you can breathe! Be grateful that you are alive! Be grateful that you are You! Be grateful that there are two words that can change your life!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The more that you practice gratitude the more deeply you will feel it in your heart, and the depth of the feeling is the key. The more deeply and sincerely you feel it, the more you will bring absolute bliss and happiness on every single subject. Watch what happens in your life when you practice gratitude every single day and in every single moment and in every opportunity that you can. Remember, if you are criticizing, you are not being grateful. If you are blaming, you are not being grateful. If you are complaining, you are not being grateful. If you are feeling tension, you are not being grateful. If you are rushing, you are not being grateful. If you are in a bad mood, you are not being grateful.

To understand the power and the magic of gratitude, you have to experience it for yourself. So why not begin by deciding to find 100 things a day to be grateful for? As you practice gratitude every day, it won't take long before gratitude is your natural state of being, and when it happens you will have unlocked one of the greatest Secrets to Life.

Sacred Geometry from Wikipedia

Sacred geometry may be understood as a worldview of pattern recognition, a complex system of hallowed attribution and signification that may subsume religious and cultural values to the fundamental structures and relationships of such complexes as space, time and form. According to this discipline, the basic patterns of existence are perceived as sacred: for by contemplating and communing with them one is thereby contemplating the Mysterium Magnum, the patterning relationships of the Great Design. By studying the nature of these patterns, forms and relationships and their manifold intra- and interconnectivity one may gain insight into the scientific, philosophical, psychological, aesthetic and mystical continuüm. That is, the laws and lore of the Universe.

The term sacred geometry is also used for geometry which is employed in the design of sacred architecture and sacred art. The underlying belief is that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportionality discoverable from geometry also gird music, light, cosmology, and other observable and sensate features of the Universe. This value system has been held throughout the World from time immemorial to prehistory, a cultural universal endemic to the Human Condition. Sacred geometry is the foundation of the design, architecture, fabrication and construction of sacred structures such as temples, mosques, megaliths, monuments and churches; sacred space such as altars, temenos and tabernacles; places of congregation such as sacred groves, village greens and holy wells and the creation of religious art, iconography and divine proportionality. Sacred geometry, art, iconography and architecture need not be monolithic and enduring, but may be temporary and yielding, such as visualization and non-permanent sandpainting and medicine wheels.
