I'm such a tool girl.

As I've written before, I've been remodeling and redecorating my house for almost three years. It all started because I wanted to change out the old 70's tile kitchen counter for a more sleek and sanitary granite. Once I decided to do that, I figured we might as well replace the cabinets. And if we're going to replace the cabinets, we might as well put in a large garden window, and if we're gonna do that, we should raise the ceiling and put in new lighting, which, of course, led to the removal of a wall and some cabinets that separated the kitchen from the dining room. All of which led to the new hardwood floors which led to the powder room, which led to new marble walls and pedestal basin and new toilet...on and on and on.... It's been going on like that for three years. Most of the huge changes were finished two years ago by professionals. The rest, the painting, the moving of furniture, the hanging of new art, the updated knobs on the first floor bathroom cabinets, the hanging of shelves, and drapes and shades and everything else, has been done by moi. The most recent project has tested my skills.

We have a two step landing that leads from the garage into the house, and up a flight of stairs, into the a loft, inside the garage. When we bought this place, twenty-years ago, we had the landing and the stairs carpeted with a dark grey commercial grade carpet. It's lasted amazing well for all the traffic it has put up with. It seems we've always had a family member or two living up the cozy loft over the years. My nephews, nieces, sister, step-daughters, daughter, son-in-law and a rottie have all lived in the loft for months and months at a time over the years. I even had an ex-boyfriend who set up his office in the coveted hideaway. It has been a gym, a guest room, an office, a playroom and a refuge. For a couple of years it was a craft and sewing room. Needless to say, the past few years that carpet on the landing was looking pretty funky. It wasn't grey anymore, it was a matted black and torn mess. Well, as with all projects, once I painted the inside of the garage, and hung up white shades to cover all the shelves, that carpet had become intolerable.

Yesterday I tore it all up. I ripped it out. I ripped out a thousand tiny staples and hammered in all the lose nails. Home Depot, my favorite nighttime hangout, sells all I ever need for my entertaining projects. I found some peel and lay tiles that were perfect. The only problem was that the bottom step was really too narrow. So, I bought some 2 by 4's, got out my drill, screws and brackets and made it bigger. I think I used every tool I own. Even the saw. I've laid down a thin layer of cement and I'm waiting for it to dry. The tile is ready to be laid....and so am I.

Here's a bit of good news.

Vt. Lawmakers Hear New Warming Approach

WASHINGTON - Major corporations and environmental groups on Friday announced what they called an "unprecedented alliance" to push for quicker action against global warming — urging lawmakers to pass mandatory curbs on carbon emissions, in contrast to President Bush's voluntary approach.
In a statement, the 10 U.S.-based companies and four environmental groups called for mandatory reductions of greenhouse gas emissions, including those from power plants, transportation and buildings.
Called the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, the group includes aluminum giant Alcoa, BP America, Caterpillar, DuPont, General Electric, Lehman Brothers and four utilities with a big stake in climate policy: Duke Energy, FPL Group, PG&E and PNM Resources. Ghost busting

Many times over the years I've been called to homes and businesses to get rid of spirits who were causing mischief or worse. One such case was with a particularly powerful 'being'. He was actually able to move things, which is more rare than Hollywood would like you to believe. Things in this house flew off counters and cabinet doors would open when there wasn't so much as a breeze nearby. After a few months of these demonstrations the client woke up to find an entity hovering over her face. Needless to say, that was the morning she called me.

Ghost busting isn't my specialty and there have been times when my work in that department wasn't as effective as I would have liked. In this case it worked just fine for the remaining time my client lived there. She moved several months later.

Today I drove to Thousand Oaks for some ghost busting. A woman has been seeing spirits in her home for two months. At first it was a male. She refused to look at him or acknowledge him in any way. He stayed a few days and brought young children with him. At one point her house was busy with children spirits. She didn't want to tell anybody for fear they would think she was crazy. She finally called her daughter to ask for help. Her daughter, in turn, called me.

It snowed in Malibu this morning which is over the hill from Thousand Oaks. Seriously. It snowed in Malibu. They had to call out snow plows. Because it was so freakin' cold I wanted to get the job done quickly. The little condo couldn't have been more than 5oo sq. ft. of space. It's really tiny and the heater was broken. I got in, made an assessment, had a deep conversation with the visitors, moved a wall hanging that was over her bed, that shouldn't have been, dismissed them all and sealed the location, leaving a few higher beings in charge of keeping the space clear. I was in and out in less than an hour. High speed ghost busting!

The resident has been staying at her daughter's house for the past few days and was there waiting for my report. She was relieved to learn that she's not insane and we discussed how she unconsciously invited them in. It appears that all is well but we'll wait and see what transpires, if anything.

The hour long drive home turned out to be an adventure. It hailed on the 101 Fwy which makes driving for Californians almost impossible. 20 miles an hour makes for a very long drive home. Oddly, my neighborhood was dry when I got here.

CONVERSATIONS WITH THE NON-PHYSICALS

There is no shortage of ways to communicate with the non-physical beings of light and love that support our efforts here on planet Earth and it seems there is no shortage of such beings eager to share their insights with us for our collective benefit. In this dynamic, informative, and uplifting workshop, you will meet a group of non-physical beings that channel their tailor-made communications to whomever is gathered.

ELIZABETH ALECCIA, an accomplished and highly skilled clairvoyant, asked early last year that her work be more expansive so it might reach and support more people in their spiritual growth and development. In return, she was asked to open herself as a voice channel so that the non-physicals could speak through her. She agreed and a “team” of beings, represented by a beautiful, glowing, feminine energy who holds a lotus flower, has been speaking
through her ever since. Participants who have attended open channel sessions have been amazed at how they each got something strong and meaningful from the sessions, regardless of their level of previous experience in this arena. They have described this work as “fascinating,” “powerful,” and “mind-expanding.”

Science has demonstrated that everything we need to heal ourselves is already within us. This enlightening work-shop will connect you to the power to heal yourself by addressing your body systems as a whole and showing you how to tune into your self to uncover the root causes of dis-harmony that have manifested as illness and dis-ease.

JASMINE DICKENS, the workshop facilitator, has something to teach us. She is a practitioner of Spiritual Alchemy, the process of shifting low or ill-serving vibrations to higher, healthy-serving vibrations. After creating a form of dis-ease in her own body last year – a condition for which doctors said there was no cure – she healed herself completely in two months. Jasmine utilizes a number of modalities such as Pranic Healing, Reiki, Jin Shin Do, breath work, meditation, and others under the Spiritual Alchemy umbrella.

I Believe

I believe -...that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I believe -....that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I believe -..that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I believe -....that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe -....that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I believe -...that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I believe -....that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.

I believe -....that you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I believe -....that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe -...that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I believe -..That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to
be done, regardless of the consequences.

I believe -...that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe -....that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I believe -....that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe -....that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I believe -....that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I believe -....that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe -....that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I believe -...that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe -....that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

I believe -...two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I believe -..that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I believe -....that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I believe -..that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I believe -.... that the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

A rose, by any other name......

Yesterday, President Bush announced to the nation that he plans to increase America’s presence in Iraq by approximately 22,000 troops, with no timetable for when troop levels would be drawn back down.
Today, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice tried her best to make this escalation plan more palatable to the American public. “I think that I don’t see it, and the president doesn’t see it, as an escalation,” Rice told an incredulous Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE). Hagel responded, “Putting 22,000 new troops, more troops in, is not an escalation?” “I would call it, senator, an augmentation,” Rice said.

Great-grandpa is getting hitched!

Steve and Paula have been clients of mine for fifteen years. Yesterday, while scheduling their next appointment, they mentioned they would be out of town in four weeks, on their massage day. The only time they have changed their monthy routine was last month when they called to re-schedule because their daughter had gone into labor with their fifth grandchild. This time, Steve's ninety-year old father invited them to New York to catch a cruise ship going to the Carribean. He wanted to make sure that Steve and Paula would be there to witness his marriage to his 78 year-old bride. How wonderful is that? They are very happy for their father and love his choice for a wife. So, congratulations go out to the entire family!

The Peace Demonstration

Seventy people showed up last night to stand on Harbor Drive, right across the street from the Edison plant that Waylon painted with whales, over a dozen years ago. It was dark and cold and probably not the most visible location to demonstrate. We held candles, flashlights and signs to bring attention to the mistake we feel The United States is on the brink of committing, the escalation of troops in Iraq.

Two years ago, I wrote a post on my blog about how sad it was that we went to war without proper equipment, training or numbers. I suggested we needed a minimum of 30,000 more troops. I got emails and comments that I didn't know what I was talking about. As it turned out, I wasn't too far off. The mistakes Rumsfeld made have put us in a terrible situation. Of course, I believe we had no business going into Iraq in the first place but that horse left the barn a very long time ago. It is what it is. Let's not do what we did in Viet Nam. Everytime things got ugly we sent more troops. How many have to die this time?

Winter Schedules

Idyllwild Healing Arts has asked me to return for the weekend of January 27th and 28th. Steven suggested I do an open channel session instead of the personnal readings. I think that's a great idea. I'll do two sessions each lasting three hours. I hope some of you can make it. It's icy and cold up there right now but there are so many wonderful little cottages and cabins for rent and the best restaurants and music you can find anywhere. I always enjoy myself when I go. In fact, I love it, love it, love it....

I'll be in Denver soon. It's a tough time of year for traveling there but babies won't wait for Spring. I'm loving the 'doula' part of my work. I am a hypno-therapist, among the many other things I do. Hypno-Birthing is a wonderful way to bring a new spirit through. Being present when a new life emerges is a precious, awe inspiring experience. I can't wait to meet little Miss May. I remember the look on her mommy's face when I spilled the beans about her having "two" children. She had taken a pregnancy test the day before and it was negative. After what I said, she went right back home and took another test and sure enough, it was positive. Mom and Dad couldn't be happier. She's almost cooked to perfection and ready for the buzzer to go off. We'll have our birth blessing ceremony upon her arrival. I am honored to have been asked to officiate.

I'm having an Open House in March. Some of you haven't seen the new kitchen or the new studio or the finished loft/office/guest room. In fact, some of you haven't seen the new "Deep Pleasure" paint in the bedroom. My whole house has been completely redone in the passed two or three years. Even the deck has a new firepit and bar. It has been a long process and a very creative one. I hope you all like it!

I'm performing a wedding in June for artist and singer, Anne Palmer and her fiance. The ceremony will take place on June 1st. Congratulations! Anne, Honey....finish your thesis. You don't need to have that hanging over your head while planning a wedding. You are going to be a most beautiful bride.

I'll head out right after the wedding for a trip to Phoenix for Michael's 4th birthday. I'll be doing an open channel and private readings while I'm there. I met all of the neighbors at a prayer circle the night before Marlie's surgery. All of the ladies there are great people. I loved them all as soon as I met them. They came from all corners of America. Two from New Jersey, one from Georgia, two from California, and if Darcy times it right, we'll have one from Washington.

Time to run down to Redondo Pier for a Peace Vigil. See y'all on the flip side.

Marlie Elizabeth

A Double Feature

Last night I finished my chores, the last of which was a trip to my least favorite store on the planet, Fry's Electronics. I swear that store is a sucking vortex of evil. The employees are the worst! And ironically, the computer system, for checking out, is so slow that I had to stand there for a good ten minutes waiting for the cash drawer to open so the cashier could give me my change. In the middle of the electronic mecca for nerds and their system runs like a 1970 Pinto. You'd think they'd want to upgrade wouldn't ya?
I saved that errand for the very last because it is on the corner of Sepulveda Blvd and Rosecrans Avenue, a stone's throw from my favorite restaurant and theater complex. After taking a few deep breaths and only cursing five times, which is much better than it could have been....(I said outloud to the guy checking reciepts at the door, "I hate this store. I really hate it, hate it, hate it." Don't tell my mother I used the "H" word or she'll go looking for a bar of soap.
I drove down the street and bought a ticket to see, "Dreamgirls". There was plenty of time to walk across courtyard to P.F. Chang's for a couple of beers and some lettuce wraps. I watched the first few touchdowns on the overhead television then went back to see the movie. It was great. I remember those days. I remember the styles, the music, the political events and social change, riots and demonstrations...and the music, the wonderful music.

Oooops gotta go...I have a client here.....had to stay at the theater for a second feature, "Freedom Writers"

Peaceful Vigilance

Vigilance requires effort. READ! If half of Americans would read as many hours as they watched "CSI Miami", "Law and Order", ESPN, or browsed EBay and Overstock, we may not be on the brink of a nuclear war and possible global destruction. PAY ATTENTION!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ Make this your home page....and listen to Air America in your car or while cleaning house. You'll also get more information about what's really going on in our government through blogs than you'll ever learn from the networks. Remember, the world is a reflection of you. How better to know yourself than to look at the bigger picture?

Now the Peaceful part. Don't let yourself dabble in fear. Be calm and assertive in creating peace as your default position. Let your voice be heard, let your energy be felt! If not now, when?
I am the Life and the Light and the Way
The earth is my Garden.
Each of the Souls I plant as seeds
Germinates and flowers in its season,
And in each I am fulfilled.
There is no cause for grief
When a blossom fades
But only rejoicing for the beauty it held
And praise that my Will is done
And my Plan served.
I am one with all creatures
And none is ever lost
But only restored to me,
Having never left me at all.
For what is Eternal
Cannot be separated from its Source.
I am with you all,
And each of you is a channel for my Light.
Feel my Love
Enfold you now and evermore.

You may already know,...........

............Marlie Elizabeth is home! Shanon brought her home on New Year's Eve. She had been at the hospital with the baby since Wednesday, without any visitors from home, due to the virus the rest of us had. She slept in the babies room so she could nurse her and learn to clean her incision. As it turned out, the infection didn't get any better so the surgeon ordered a dose of morphine for Marlie and reopened her wound. It just had to be cleaned out and I guess that was the fastest way to get it done. Unfortunately that required a wound care protocol that included removing the bandage twice a day and squeezing out the remaining infection. My daughter is an amazing mother and nurse. The first day she was home I heard the baby quietly screaming and when I went into the nursery to investigate, Shanon was performing her training. I spun on my heals and headed downstairs to weep. This little Marlie Elizabeth is one tough baby.

On New Years Eve. it was Shanon and I at her house with Marlie and Michael, and Danny at his parents house down the street, recovering from the flu. They stayed away for week to give the baby a chance to nurse and recover without subjecting her to any nasty possibilities. We took her to her doctors appointments and everything seems to be just fine. She doesn't eat much and hasn't gained much weight yet, but she's back up to 7 pounds, from 6.5 after surgery. She was 8 at birth and looked so healthy....she'll catch up. She's eating almost two ounces every three hours and is still on antibiotics. She'll see a pediatric cardiologist throughout her childhood and young adulthood. Thursday afternoon I stayed home with her while Shanon and Danny took Michael to Chuck E Cheese. I held her, sang to her, fed her, changed her and held her some more. I was in heaven.

This morning I kissed them all good bye and drove back to my beach town. I drove through a raging wind storm that blew over a couple of tractor trailers. It was a brutal drive from Phoenix to LA but Maggie and I arrived safely. I got a chance to catch up on Air America and all the government shananigans. I hope you are all paying attention to what's going on. Stay vigilant. We must preserve our freedom for the wee ones.

Love you all, thanks for all the emails, phone calls and prayers.

Back to work!

Oh yeah! Happy New Year!
