Summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime

Ya gotta love summertime here at the beach. There are free concerts in parks and on beaches up and down the coast. Performing tonight, on the Hermosa Beach Pier, will be, none other than, Tommy James and The Shondells. "I Think We're Alone Now" a song I remember from one summer night in 1968, when I was holding hands with Jerry Skaff in the backseat of the fastest car in Hawthorne California, Woody McCain's. I couldn't begin to tell you what make or model it was but, I do know it was the fastest because all the boys said so. When I hear that song I am transported back to that moment and the fragrance of Jerry's cologne and the sweet taste of his kisses. Man-o-man I loved kissing on that boy. I was only 16 but I knew a good kisser when I met him.

So, this evening I'll be on the beach with friends and family, having a gourmet picnic, a cold glass of wetness and the jammin sounds of sixties rock and roll. Last week we sat on the sand and listened to The Animals. Like I said, summertime on the beach, there's nothin' like it.

"I Think We're Alone Now"

Children behave
That's what they say when we're together
And watch how you play
They don't understand
And so we're running just as fast as we can
Holdin' onto one another's hand
Tryin' to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground
And then you say
I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
Look at the way
We gotta hide what we're doin'
'Cause what would they say
If they ever knew and so we're
Running just as fast as we can
Holdin' onto one another's hand
Tryin' to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground
And then you say I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
Running just as fast as we can
Holdin' onto one another's hand
Tryin' to get away into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground
And then you say I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we're alone now
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we're alone now (alone now)
There doesn't seem to be anyone around
I think we're alone now (alone now)
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
